Help the FA Student Council Raise $$ for the Pulsera Project

February 27, 2019

Join Foxcroft Academy’s Student Council as they help raise money for The Pulsera Project.  They are selling handmade bracelets for the next week.  For just $5, you can get a bracelet with a tag about who you are helping or for $10, you can get a handmade bag!

Here is more information on The Pulsera Project, directly from their website:

The Pulsera Project buys hand-woven pulseras (Spanish for bracelet) from Central American artists and then partners with student groups to sell them through U.S. schools. We provide sustainable fair trade employment and dramatically expand economic opportunities for nearly 200 artists in Nicaragua and Guatemala. We also educate U.S. students about Latin American culture and the importance of Fair Trade practices.

With the money raised from pulsera sales, we fund many programs that empower people through secondary education, university scholarships, housing programs, youth shelter support, workers’ rights advocacy, funding for environmental initiatives, and more. We partner with groups & non-profit organizations who share our belief that economic aid is just one part of a mutual exchange among people who share knowledge, ideas, and life experiences for the benefit of all.

Our projects are guided by a philosophy of empowerment. Rather than giving things to people, we empower people with the skills, opportunities, and education that allow them to provide for themselves and their communities.
