Toby Nelson

Mr. Toby Nelson is the Director of Communications and Marketing at Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft.  In addition to these duties, he teaches in the English department at the school. He is a member of the FA Residential Life staff as a dorm parent at The Lodge, and coaches the freshmen basketball team.   

Toby is an FA graduate (Class of 1995), and received his B.A. in Communications from Husson University.  

Before Toby came to Foxcroft Academy, he was the sports director and business manager at Zone Radio Corporation in Bangor, owned by Stephen and Tabitha King.  He received several broadcasting awards from various media outlets including the Maine Association of Broadcasters, National Sports Media Association, and the Associated Press.  He continues to be a play by play announcer for television and internet coverage of the Maine State High School Basketball Tournament in February and March.

For the last twenty years, Toby has been an adjunct faculty member in the journalism department at Husson University, teaching several classes including History of Sports Journalism and Sports Information.

His spare time is spent with his family, and enjoys spending time at Sebec Lake in the summer.  He and his wife, Miranda ‘95, have a son, Joseph, who is a freshman at FA.
