Dover-Foxcroft – Spencer Ireland of Dover-Foxcroft, a senior at Foxcroft Academy, has been selected to receive the 2019 MPA Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
“Spencer fits all the criteria for this MPA Principal’s Award with no exceptions,” said Arnold Shorey, FA Head of School. “He is a leader in the classroom and lab, on the fields, and a trusted voice amongst his peers. He leads by example and is a model of integrity, work ethic, and most importantly, he has a commitment to excellence. Spencer is a hard-working student and cares about his fellow classmates, Foxcroft Academy, and the greater Dover-Foxcroft community. We have all benefited by Spencer being a part of the Pony Herd.”
Ireland and Head of School Arnold Shorey are invited to attend an Honors Luncheon with other award winners and their principals at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer on Saturday, April 6th at 12:30 pm.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the MPA. An additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
