The Horizon Scholarships were established by the Trustees of Foxcroft Academy in an attempt to expand academic opportunities and enhance the personal and academic growth of Foxcroft Academy students in grades nine, ten, and eleven. Funds for this program are generated through income from endowed Horizon Scholarship funds with approximately $6,000 awarded each year.
The Horizon Scholarship is intended to provide financial support for academic experiences, including experiential learning, which are not presently offered at Foxcroft Academy. Any student in grade eight, nine, ten, or eleven who is (or will be) enrolled as a full-time student at Foxcroft Academy is eligible to apply. The program is intended for summer experiences; however, consideration will be given to special programs offered during the school year. All past recipients are encouraged to apply, if you meet the criteria.
Applications are available from Mrs. Hutchinson in the Main Office or Mrs. Hall in the Packard Center. The application deadline is April 6, 2021. Awards will be paid directly to the institution or organization sponsoring the activity upon proper verification of the applicant’s acceptance.
Upon completion of the program attended, scholarship recipients will be required to share their experiences with the FA community. Within one month of returning, recipients will submit for publication, a short essay and at least one picture of him/herself at their particular program. Recipients may also be asked to speak in assembly regarding their experience.
Scholarships will be awarded to applicants after careful review of the application, essay, and references. Financial need will be considered but this scholarship is not a needs-based one.
