Why the Ponies?

In 2012, we set out to answer a question that no one seemed to know the answer to: How did Foxcroft Academy come to be known as the Ponies?

Recently, FA’s mascot has acquired a new face and name. Meet Oakie the Pony!

Oakie the Pony is named after Louis Oakes of the class of 1892. Oakes deeded to the Trustees of Foxcroft Academy the Oakes Farm on the Guilford Road in Foxcroft, and largely financed work on the new school building opened in February of 1952. Lady Eunice Oakes also contributed a substantial donation to the construction of a new gymnasium in 1960.
