What are the admissions requirements for Foxcroft Academy?
Foxcroft Academy accepts students who have demonstrated a great desire for learning and whose academic records indicate that they are capable of maintaining a solid "B" average in an intense and rigorous college preparatory curriculum. Entering 9th grade international students must have a minimum SLEP score of 47 or a TOEFL iBT scord of 41 or higher. Entering 11th grade international students must have a minimum SLEP score of 56 or a TOEFL iBT scord of 51 or higher. Students are also encouraged to submit SSAT scores. All students must have a phone or in person interview with an admissions counselor.

Do I need to come to Foxcroft for an on campus visit prior to be admitted?
No. However, we strongly suggest that if possible all students with their parents make a visit to our campus and schedule an interview with the Admissions Director. An face to face interview is not required, but an interview by phone is required if a student can not visit the campus.

Does Foxcroft award merit-based scholarships?
No, all financial aid is need-based only.

How large are the classes?
The average class size at Foxcroft is sixteen students.

How much homework will I get at Foxcroft?
Foxcroft students typically have about 20 hours of work per week outside of class. As a general rule, each class gives 45 minutes of homework per night.

How many academic classes do students take?
Students must take a minimum of four core academic courses per semester . The Academy has two semesters, a fall semester which lasts from August to January and a spring semester which lasts from January to June. As a result a student may take a total of eight courses per year, four each semester.

How many AP or Honors are offered?
Foxcroft Academy offers 21 AP courses and 32 Honors courses. A student's advisor, Academic Dean, and faculty members review all course sign-ups in order to make sure students are placed appropriately.

Are students allowed to take more than one language?
YES!!! We offer Latin, Spanish, Chinese and French.

What kinds of international travel opportunities are available?
Each year Foxcroft Academy students have the opportunity to travel abroad to a country such as: France, Spain, Greece, England as well as other countries around the world. This annual trip is sponsored by the Academy's International Club and available to all students. Scholarships are also available for these trips.

What can I do if I am having trouble in a class?
Foxcroft has an outstanding network of support for students who are struggling academically. Academic Support Periods are scheduled at the beginning and ending of each day. Students whose academic standing is at a B- and below or is not meeting the academic standards required of the course, are placed in an Academic Support Period until their grade has improved. Faculty members are also available before and after the school day for extra help. In addition, Foxcroft has a peer tutor program where a student requesting help is matched with a volunteer tutor. ESL instruction is also provided to all international students as a regular part of the curriculm. Structures study session are also provided on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the Watson Library.

With whom will I be living?
Our new $7 million student and faculty resident complex houses 48 boarding students and 6 faculty members and their families. This modern dorm complex will have both a male and female wing as well as large common area with a fireplace and several study areas with wireless internet ability throughout the dorm. The Academy also has two Honors Dorms which are English Speaking Only dorms that house 6 students each. These dorms also have a faculty member living with students. The dormitories have all modern conveniences including wireless internet hook-ups.
We also place a few students with host families who largely live in close proximity to the Academy. These families typically have children of their own attending the Academy and provide an immediate opportunity get to know other students and get involved quickly in the life of the school.

Do I need to live with a roommate?
Most dorm rooms are doubles which require 2 students per room. The English speaking onlyl dorm does provide students with a single room, but students must have a good academic record and be upper classmen.

What is provided with the room?
All of the rooms are furnished with a bed, chair, bureau, and closet. The Academy will purchase for students linens for the beds, which will be deducted from the student's personal reserve account.

Do the rooms have access to the Internet?
All the dormitories are wired for wireless internet use.

How do I handle my laundry?
Washers and dryers are available on site in the dorms and are coin operated.

Are there curfews or quiet study times?
On school nights, quiet hours are enforced at the dorms after 7:30 pm. Study sessions in the dorms are from 8:00 P.M. to 10:30 P.M., Sunday thru to Thursday nights.
